Cleaners in Powick
Powick guards the southwest approach to Worcester, on the A449 out towards Malvern. We cover the village, the converted hospital buildings, Callow End and the lanes between the two rivers.
For a small village, a lot of history has happened to Powick. The old bridge over the Teme saw the first skirmish of the English Civil War in 1642 and was fought over again at the Battle of Worcester nine years later. Two centuries on, the mills beside that same bridge housed one of Britain's earliest public hydroelectric power stations, generating the current that lit the streets of Worcester.
The other thing Powick is known for is the hospital. The county asylum stood here from the middle of the nineteenth century until it closed in the 1980s, and the Victorian buildings were subsequently converted into houses and apartments. They are unlike anything else locally to clean: enormous windows, very high ceilings, long communal corridors and stairwells, and rooms with proportions no modern developer would attempt. Communal-area cleaning for the blocks and detailed work inside the flats are both things we price for.
Beyond the old site, Powick is a mix of village cottages, closes built between the 1960s and the 1990s, and modern detached houses, with Callow End, Bastonford and Collett's Green spread along the lanes towards the water. This is low-lying country between the Teme and the Severn — excellent for walking, considerably less good for keeping a hallway clean between October and March.

High ceilings, tall windows
In the converted hospital buildings and the older village houses, floor area tells you very little about the time a room actually needs. Ceiling height, window size and the number of communal stairs matter far more, which is why we would rather quote from seeing the place than from a bedroom count over the phone.
Two rivers, one muddy hallway
Powick sits at the confluence of the Teme and the Severn with the Hams and the meadows right there. Winter walks come home through the front door, so entrance halls, stair carpets and utility rooms are where it shows first — usually the first thing worth tackling.
